Oak Park Kindergarten – Expansion Project

OAK PARK

TULLAMARINE
Building 193 was an unused office building before Notion converted it into a revitalized open space café to serve over 1500 staff at the Airservices Australia site in Tullamarine.
Designed by the talented Eats Architects, Notion worked through a tight budget and were able to completely transform the space by opening up the perimeter walls and allowing additional light to come in, highlighted by breezeway glass louvres and frameless sliding windows.
Works included a commercial kitchen with new cooking equipment and the welcoming statement piece to the café entrance being the terrazzo stone servery bench, flowing through to its surrounding terrazzo floor tiles.
SANDRINGHAM
Firbank Girls’ Grammar School is a Catholic independent school with three campuses across Brighton and Sandringham. Firbank were seeking to align the physical environments of the Sandringham Campus to better suit teaching in an integrated STEAM focused approach.
Notion was engaged for Early Contractor Involvement alongside Studio Bright Architects and then for project works which consisted of new facades, new canopy, refurbishment of classrooms & social centre along with a building extension to house new music rooms.
With the site being within close proximity to residential neighbours and the school still in operation, Notion ensured that noise, dust, hours, and access were well controlled throughout the project duration.
IVANHOE EAST
The East Ivanhoe Preschool project involved the construction of a brand-new two-room kindergarten on the site of the former maternal and child health centre at 1 King Street, East Ivanhoe. The project was designed to provide local children with access to two years of high-quality early education.
The new facility was designed as a state-of-the-art, light-filled, and inspiring learning environment. It features two spacious preschool rooms with distinctive curved ceilings, highlight windows to maximize natural light, and playful vinyl flooring with porthole windows that add character and engagement for the children. Each room offers a seamless connection to the outdoor playground, supporting a smooth integration of indoor and outdoor learning and play.
The project successfully delivered a modern, functional, and engaging new kindergarten facility that meets the needs of the local community while providing a high-quality learning environment for young children.
YARRAVILLE
Maribyrnong City Council engaged Notion to construct a new batting practice structure with viewing and storage areas for the Footscray Baseball Club.
The new structure was built with restricted site access, all whilst protecting the surrounding trees, environment and being sensitive to the park area occupied by the public.
The project works included demolition of the existing chain wire batting cage, construction of a new batting cage consisting of chain wire mesh, colorbond roofing, internal baseball netting, artificial turf, electrical services, landscaping and stormwater connection works.
OAKLEIGH
The project involved the proposed alterations and fitout of an existing office building for Pronia – Australian Greek Welfare Society Ltd. The scope focused on enhancing functional workspaces, improving accessibility, and modernising the existing facilities to better support staff and service delivery.
The project included the renovation of existing office areas to improve workflow and operational efficiency. New workstations, meeting rooms, and collaborative spaces were installed to support staff productivity. Staff amenities, including a modern kitchen and breakout areas, were upgraded to provide comfort and convenience. Accessibility features were enhanced to comply with current standards, ensuring the office is inclusive for all users. Interior finishes were modernised to create a professional and welcoming environment.
The completed project successfully transformed the existing office building into a contemporary, functional, and accessible workplace. It improved staff comfort and efficiency while providing a professional setting for client engagement and service delivery.
BRIGHTON
Firbank Grammar engaged Notion to undertake removal of all of the combustible APC panels to the Leaning Hub Building and install new solid aluminium Mondoclad panels.
To ensure students were not disturbed by this project, Notion coordinated a site measure for the new panels out of hours and also completed installation during the school holidays.
Multiple teams of installers were set up to ensure practical completion date was met.
PASCOE VALE
The Derby Street Children’s Centre expansion project was successfully completed, delivering a modern and functional upgrade to support the growing needs of local families.
The works involved a major refurbishment and extension of the existing centre, increasing total capacity from 83 to 110 places and enhancing facilities for children, educators, and visiting specialists.
The project delivered two new kindergarten rooms accommodating 29 and 31 children, along with new children's toilets servicing the learning spaces. It also provided a new office, staff room, and fully equipped commercial kitchen, as well as a new meeting/therapy space and an upgraded foyer. In addition, the works included a new staff toilet and an accessible toilet.
The completed upgrade provided a significantly expanded and more efficient early years facility, supporting higher enrolments and offering improved spaces for learning, care, and staff operations.
MELBOURNE
With expanding staff numbers in the different sections of the business, DNV GL required a larger office space which would engage all teams as one, whilst maintaining discretely zoned sections for their specific roles. This design and build project studied the requirements of a front and back of house layout, the flow patterns of each team throughout a given week, sun direction, the views, the functionality and DNV GL’s vision as market leaders in sustainability.
On a 750m2 floor plan, the space was built within 5 weeks which included a small data centre, a multi-use boardroom, meeting rooms a large kitchen and breakout space, tea points front of house and back of house, a sound proof pod , an assembly workshop, storage & utility rooms and an open plan office separating the various sections of the business with vertical planters and acoustic screens. Understanding the client’s values was crucial for this successful project.
HADFIELD
The Walter Street Depot accommodates on and offsite staff from the Roads, Waste, Street Cleaning, Open Space, Maintenance and Open Space Design departments.
Due to the growing number of staff, Notion were engaged to complete a refurbishment to the multi-level office space and workshop. Works included a new kitchen and dining space along with new stair access from the office area to the workshop. Through detailed planning and communication from Notion, the Depot was able to remain operational during the construction works.
BRUNSWICK
Brunswick Baths attracts over 490,000 attendances per year with the complex including two buildings, on Dawson Street and Phoenix Street.
Whilst still in operation, Notion were tasked with refurbishing the existing group fitness area into a new industry leading gym, including transforming the health club to enable 24/7 access for members.
Upon commencement of operation to the new gym area, Notion were able to refurbish the previous Dawson Street Building workout areas and create a new High Intensity Group Fitness Room and a Wellness Room. The Group Fitness studios included state of the art flooring, AV and brand-new pump equipment.
COBURG
Harold Stevens Athletic pavilion is to the north east of Coburg and is the home of the Coburg Harriers Athletics Club and to a number of athletic clubs that cater for all ages and abilities is located at 20 Outlook Drive, North Coburg.
Notion completed a refurbishment of the existing pavilion change and amenities rooms, upgrade to the rear public toilets and social rooms. External civil works and an upgraded commercial kitchen/canteen area were also completed to provide an inviting space for members and the public.
MENTONE
Notion were tasked with the fitout for the new Zudis concept warehouse in Mentone. The warehouse space was created to form the backdrop for daily inspiration, innovative workshops, delicious food pop-ups and stylish products.

MELBOURNE
Notion were engaged to complete the design and construction of a new office area for Stolt-Nielsen. This intricate design required both front of house and back of house zones that included partitioned offices, meeting rooms, boardroom, communications and storage, kitchen & breakout space and open plan offices.
To ensure minimal waste, reduce costs and maintain the design intent of the international company, we were able to repurpose existing furniture, workstations and scaled models into the new office space ready for use within 3 weeks from commencement onsite.
COBURG
Coburg Basketball stadium is home to one of the oldest and most well-known basketball associations in Australia.
For this project Notion were tasked with extensive surface water runoff mitigation, levelling of the existing floor frame and stump rehabilitation. Following these works surface sanding, sealing and new line marking were completed.
BRUNSWICK
Gillon Oval is a popular venue for the local community, which is also used by the Brunswick Football Club, Brunswick Cricket Club and Brunswick Netball Club.
Notion undertook the refurbishment of Gillon Oval Social Club Rooms and Grandstand change rooms including construction of a new scoreboard and storeroom along the perimeter of the main oval.
The project involved upgrading the existing male and female toilets, a new accessible unisex toilet along with a kitchen refurbishment in the Social Club Room.
HADFIELD
The Hadfield Community Hall had sunken timber flooring and was in need of an upgrade when Notion were engaged to complete refurbishment works to the building. Our improvement works included re-stumping, levelling and a new seal to the timber flooring. These works enabled the community club members to be able to continue to play indoor bocce on a new flat surface.
Other improvements completed to the Community Hall included a new accessible bathroom, ambulant toilets, upgrade of existing kitchen, new entrance and cladding to the building, new water tank connected to greywater and landscaping works.
COBURG
To improve the environment of the already bustling atmosphere along Victoria St, Notion were tasked with installing new bench seating and tables, bird spikes, lighting and artwork to and surrounding the Coburg Library building.
HADFIELD
The Reddish Reserve facility was well due for an upgrade when Notion were engaged to complete refurbishment works which included new access ramps and associated works to comply with accessibility requirements, construction of a new unisex accessible toilet, re-sheeting and new gutters to the building and change room and amenities rooms upgrades. During the project re-stumping works were also required to the existing subfloor structure.
HADFIELD
James Marin Reserve is located on Box Forest Road, Hadfield and is used by local sporting clubs including Hadfield Football & Hadfield/Pascoe Vale Cricket Clubs and Hadfield Netball Club.
Along with the refurbishment of the Social Club and Change Rooms, Notion constructed a new entrance accessible ramp to enable the facilities to comply with current DDA standards.
MAGELLAN OFFICES
With a quick turnaround timeframe required for Magellan’s new Melbourne office fitout at 330 Collins St, Notion took an initial concept design and managed to deliver the new office space ready for the Melbourne team to occupy within 4 weeks.
The client had an affiliation with curves and light which created the bookends for the space, with the kitchen joinery neatly centred on the internal wall allowing for the open plan workstations to enjoy the views and natural light overlooking bustling Collins St.
The subtle design elements are evident from the feature walls and joinery which combined with the organic flowing layout create calm, productive and natural working environment. By working closely with the client in the beginning it allowed this well-planned project to be built quickly and efficiently and avoided the client paying double rent between tenancies.
COBURG
Bush Reserve is home to both the Coburg Tennis Club and Coburg Bowling Club. With project works programmed to be completed during the playing season for both clubs, Notion was able to minimise disruption during construction. This allowed both tennis and lawn bowls to continue throughout the project duration.
As part of the project works, Notion constructed new compliant accessible entries to both facilities along with an upgrade of existing amenities and external works.
BOX HILL
Notion has an ongoing relationship with Melbourne Stem Cell Centre after completing numerous works and designs at Epworth Hospital, Glenferrie Private Hospital and Box Hill hospital. The works completed at Box Hill hospital included alterations to Melbourne Stem Cell Centre’s existing clean room, consulting room, wash room and lab area to comply with the relevant standards.
Compliant sterile equipment was also procured, installed, commissioned and certified. These works were completed out of hours over a 4 week period to ensure the client could continue operation throughout.
HEIDELBERG
Notion have completed several projects for the client Hahndorf Fine Chocolates including a new fitout to the Heidelberg Tenancy and also the de-fit of the Greensborough tenancy to enable a relocation into the shopping centre.
Notion understood that as a franchise each Hahndorf project required a high level of quality in their finishes and also works needed to be completed within a tight timeframe. Notion have and continue to provide this service to Hahndorf Fine Chocolates as a repeat client.
